Everyone had told me the sunsets in Colombia’s eastern plains were unlike anything I’d ever seen. But I didn’t believe it until I was barefoot in the grass, staring out at the seemingly endless crimson sky.
Colombia’s eastern plains are truly otherworldly, and Reserva Natural Hato El Boral is one of the best places to experience it. In the week I spent on this cattle ranch, I learned what it truly means to be llanero — long days spent on the plains, barefoot horseback rides, and of course, plenty of gritos llaneros. Not to mention I saw more wildlife than I thought possible — everything from crocodiles to capybaras!
This might possibly be one of my favorite videos I’ve had the chance to produce and one of my favorite regions of Colombia I’ve had the chance to explore. There’s truly no place like the llanos, and I’ll be the first to agree, there’s nothing like a llano sunset. You’ll just have to watch the video to see for yourself!
